Borgo Pignano is an elegant, historical country estate in the heart of the Tuscan countryside, just a short drive from the historic, hilltop towns of Volterra and San Gimignano and within easy reach of the medieval cities of Florence and Siena and the vineyards of Chianti.

Perched on a hilltop amid 750 acres, the estate’s main villa is surrounded by lovely English gardens overlooking pristine Tuscan landscapes. Its commitment to sustainable tourism practices has seen Borgo Pignano acknowledged with several awards and also being accepted as a founding member of Beyond Green, a global portfolio of hotels, resorts, and lodges that exemplify sustainable leadership. The impressive villa features fourteen elegant rooms and suites, some with original frescoes and all with en-suite marble and travertine bathrooms. “After we bought Borgo Pignano, everything - the buildings and the land - required extensive work. We tried to make sure that we contributed to the beauty of this part of Tuscany and that Borgo Pignano could sustain itself using as light an energy footprint as possible. While all the buildings have been thoroughly renovated and are a pleasure for guests, it is the land where the changes are most apparent. Fields that were parched and had been treated with chemical fertilizers are now brimming with life and provide a long list of vegetables, fruits and grains for the kitchens. Much of our heat is generated from wood chips; solar panels supplement our electricity supply; rainfall is captured in underground storage tanks; grey water is recycled in reed beds and e-vehicles can be recharged in the parking lot. We hope guests understand that this is our way of life at Borgo Pignano. The property is truly spectacular – a feast for the senses in every way possible! Everything about the property – from the design, the décor, the gardens – is charming, luxurious and inviting.
