A Once in a Lifetime Trip |
| |
Led by the incredible local experts at Metropolitan Touring, I recently returned from escorting an amazing group of travel advisors on a Waterstone educational trip throughout Peru. With all of us experiencing the many wonders of this country for the first time, Metropolitan Touring did a fantastic job of curating an itinerary that allowed us to visit all of Peru’s most famous attractions, while still leaving room for the organic and authentic moments that give travelers the opportunity to see a destination through a unique and local lens. |

At a time when temperatures were soaring worldwide, we were comfortably exploring both coastal and mountain landscapes in 65 to 75-degree weather – typical of Peru’s mild and dry winter. |
| |
We quickly learned that Peru is the new hub of international cuisine, with Lima being the home of the world’s #1 ranked restaurant, Central, which highlights the fresh local ingredients and delectable dishes typical of this beautiful country. Heavy in quinoa, potatoes, trout, corn, vegetables, beef and poultry, Peruvian cuisine is the delicious result of international influences being combined with traditional Incan and local staples, like cuy, ceviche and alpaca. Of course, you can’t talk about Peruvian gastronomy without a nod to the Pisco Sour – the ‘true’ drink of Peruvians dating back to the 1600’s. Needless to say, we did not go hungry (or thirsty) during our trip! |

Metropolitan Touring wowed us with their exceptional guides; true locals who made this magnificent destination come to life by making sure we experienced not only Peru’s incredible sites, but also the people, cultural traditions and archaeological richness that make it a once in a lifetime destination. |
| |
With the ability to flawlessly highlight Peru’s endless treasures, Metropolitan Touring’s 70 years of experience was evident throughout our entire journey. We could not have been in better hands and the group left feeling confident in Metropolitan Touring’s ability to meticulously plan bespoke, not-something-you-would-find-in-a-guidebook itineraries for their clients. |

"What an amazing trip!! The experts at Metropolitan Touring in partnership with Waterstone put together an ideal, first visit itinerary that allowed us to maximize our time without ever feeling rushed or short changed. They literally thought of everything… and everything flowed perfectly! Beyond the highlights, there was so much more that you won’t find on the pages of any itinerary…the unexpected animal encounters, visits to local communities and restaurants, heart-warming interactions with the proud Peruvian people, and tearful moments of pure joy that never fail to remind me…THIS is why we travel." |

"I was blown away by the quality of service, beauty, culture, and gastronomy scene in Peru! Every moment of our trip was so well organized from our arrival to our departure (and everything in between). The MTP Team from the guides to the drivers, to the airport greeters, and the MTP logistics and operations team, were amazing and made this trip flawless. They showed us the best archaeological and cultural sites, hotels, and restaurants there are to experience in Peru (and that was just scratching the surface). The best part is that their team is so seasoned and their relationship with the locals is so strong that they are able to provide you with access to lesser-known entry points (with fewer crowds) to some pretty awe-inspiring sites." |
