Catching up with Bronagh Kelleher from Dublin's Fitzwilliam Hotel

Happy Friday! After a very quiet few years, it is just wonderful to see and feel luxury leisure business return to Ireland. With Dublin as the access point, we are just delighted to hear American accents again and are so excited to share our capital, with all its quirks, nooks and crannies.

Dublin is a city for everyone to enjoy – a super multigenerational destination which keeps grandparents, parents and grandkids – even those tricky teens – amused and excited.

Below, I've listed some of my personal suggestions on what to experience while staying at THE FITZWILLIAM HOTEL DUBLIN for you to review when you have some down time this weekend.

When you and your clients are ready to come visit us, or if you want more suggestions on what to do in and around Dublin, feel free to contact me at bkelleher@fitzwilliamhotel.com. My team and I at The Fitzwilliam so look forward to extending our warmest Irish welcome to you soon!

Best regards and have a great weekend,

Bronagh Kelleher

MY FAVORITES IN DUBLIN

WALKING TOURS
There is no better city to discover on foot as everything is so close by. Make sure to give us some background on your clients so we can bring the guide up to speed. We have also just found a guide who specialises in music tours but most especially rap & hip hop!? – who knew…

TRINITY COLLEGE
Visit the Book of Kells and the Long Room. For your ultra-lux clients, ask us to arrange a private viewing.

EPIC
A must for anyone with Irish ancestry (or not!!) Give yourself a few hours here.

KILMAINHAM GAOL
A long-time favourite of the Fitzwilliam and Rod Stewart!! In fact, his song ‘Grace’ was inspired by his experience at Kilmainham where he recently returned. He also just purchased a home in Dublin.

THE CUSTOM HOUSE
Dublin’s newest museum… I’m going this weekend so watch out for my updates!!

MUSEUM OF LITERATURE IRELAND
I’m not the biggest literature person but a stroll through the park and a wander around the museum is something special. There’s also a great chill café with wonderful cakes and a gorgeous garden to enjoy (just paces away from the Fitzwilliam Hotel).

ST STEPHEN'S GREEN TREASURE HUNT
In conjunction with the Little Museum of Dublin, this is a great way to explore and learn about this landmark park. U2 have the key to the city and grazing rights here to boot!!

FAB FOOD WALKING TOURS
Enjoy amazing food and savour the wonderful local produce while walking around the capital.

MY FAVORITES OUTSIDE OF DUBLIN

SOUTH COASTAL DUBLIN TOUR
With a driver and guide, or by Dart train, explore Dun Laoghaire, Sandycove, Killiney and Dalkey (both home to the Stars – Matt Damon spent lockdown in Dalkey).

MALAHIDE AND HOWTH
North of the city, visit Malahide for a wonderful day out exploring Malahide Castle and perusing some of the best boutiques in Ireland (Irish locals come here for all their special occasion wear). Next, head over to Howth, a working fishing village where you can enjoy fish and chips and a stunning view.

POWERSCOURT AND GLENDALOUGH
Spend a full day in Wicklow, Dublin’s neighbouring country, for stunning gardens, a monastic site and some of the island’s best and most beautiful hikes.

NEWGRANGE
Another spectacular day out visiting settlements which are older than the pyramids

BELFAST
If you don’t have time for a longer stay in Belfast, hop on a train from Dublin and in 2 hours you'll be in the Titanic Museum or doing a Black Taxi Tour. Before returning home, follow in Meghan and Harry’s footsteps by popping into The Crown Bar for a pint and don’t forget to say hello to the team at our sister property!

ACTIVE DUBLIN
Dublin bay cruises, hiking, biking, kayaking, golf, horseback riding – all of these activities are available within 45 minutes of the hotel.

HOTEL UPDATES

MICHELIN STAR
We are thrilled to share that our restaurant, Glovers Alley, has been awarded a Michelin Star.

FULL REFURBISHMENT
By the end of 2022 we will have all new rooms, and by the end of March 2023 we will have all new public areas (just in time for us to celebrate 25 years in business!)

VISIT US

Dublin is a city not to be rushed, so I recommend that your clients explore at a slower pace for a full dose of craic and banter. Of course, day trips outside of the city are also a fantastic way to experience the many different sides of our beautiful country, which is why they’re so popular among locals. No matter what your clients are interested in, I hope I’ve shown you that there’s something for everyone to enjoy when staying at THE FITZWILLIAM HOTEL DUBLIN.

Along with our veteran General Manager Fergal O’Connell,  I hope to see you soon, either in Dublin or on the road with Waterstone!

"My clients RAVED about the Fitzwilliam, the staff, and especially Fergal and Bronagh. He couldn’t get over the way he was met when he first arrived until the end of their stay. I can’t thank you all enough for the way you treat my clients. You’re the best."
