Adele Naldi

CEO
Hotel Splendide Royal

What inspired you to pursue a career in this industry, and how has your perspective as a woman shaped your vision and hospitality approach?

I lived inside hotels my entire life, experiencing the industry up close. I started the University convinced to pursue a path different from my family’s profession for generations. However, during my free time from studying, I promised my father I would gain experience in some of the properties of the Roberto Naldi Collection. It did not take long for me to fall in love with the job and realize that my academic studies would continue at the Swiss Hotel Management School, Les Roches, followed by various internships in hotels. In the end, my dad wasn’t wrong: I have the hospitality profession in my blood and it runs through my veins!

What is your favorite part of working in luxury hospitality, and what keeps you passionate about continuing to evolve your brand and guest experience?

What fills me with the most pride is turning the hotel into a second home for our guests. The greatest recognition is especially in the details, thanks to the effort that the entire team puts into personalizing their stay.

The guests' smiles are my favorite part of this job, and at the same time, they are a motivation to keep improving and striving for excellence. People often think that hospitality is simply about leisure moments, but in reality, the most valuable thing in the world is people’s time. Making that time even more precious is both a challenge and a deeply meaningful goal.

The greatest reward in this industry is hearing guests say that their stay at our hotel created moments they will always cherish and never forget.

What is a signature experience at one of your properties that truly reflects your personal touch or leadership?

For the past two years, I have been living at the Splendide in Lugano; an experience that allows me to see the hotel from two perspectives that are of the guest and of the CEO. This dual insight enables me to understand every detail of the hospitality we offer, from the Michelin-starred restaurant to the exclusive treatments at our spa, from the personalization of the rooms to the warm welcome of our Concierge. The people I work with, from the General Managers to the staff in the restaurants, are crucial in creating the magic of the Splendide.

Every experience at the Splendide reflects the passion of both myself and the entire team, even in the smallest details; details that make the difference.

Can you share a moment when being a woman in this industry gave you a unique perspective or advantage in creating exceptional guest experiences?

Every moment can make a difference. The perspective from which I conduct my work is built on empathy, attention to detail and inclusiveness. These traits contribute to a welcoming atmosphere, fostering personalised service and innovative solutions that resonate with different guests and result in memorable and unique stays.

What is the most valuable lesson you've learned as a female leader in luxury travel, and how has it shaped the way you do business?

The most valuable lesson I have learned as a woman in the luxury travel industry is that authenticity is the key to building lasting relationships. Growing up immersed in hospitality, I realized that listening to and understanding the needs of both clients and colleagues is fundamental to creating personalized experiences that resonate with people and are appreciated by guests.

Moreover, resilience and adaptability are essential. The challenges I have faced have taught me to remain flexible and open to innovation while never forgetting our “Splendide” heritage. These insights are at the heart of my approach to business.
